After launching a music search
engine and then teaming up with Seeqpod for the
provision of additional search results and releasing
a sponsored promotional option for artists,
Songza
has just added two new updates which will be pretty
handy for its users, and will undoubtedly help take
Songza in the long run. I say that primarily because
the new features help Songza make its content more
shareable across the web, and aid the users through
a recommendation tool that’s a bit of a necessity
when it comes to music that’s found online.
Everyone’s Doin’ the Twitter
For making content more shareable,
Songza has added a “Twitter This” option to the menu
that appears when you click on a song in your search
results or playlist. This will post your song to
Twitter, similar to TinyURL. Songza’s team has had a
great deal of experience working with apps that
thrive on the Twitter economy, so I wasn’t surprised
to see this as one of the primary updates included
in the site. Given the recent efforts by MySpace to
make content more shareable, perhaps a “Post to
MySpace” option is next?!
The other option Songza has released
in this update is a new section called “other
artists you might like.” It’s powered by OneLlama,
and takes Songza a bit in the direction of Pandora
and all the rest. The bottom line, however, is that
Songza has added recommendations to its music search
tool, and that can only help Songza in the end.
