Quick: What
does the world need most right now? That's right,
another social network. LG has heeded the demands of
the public by launching Rally for Music, a
"Web-based social platform that aims to connect,
inspire and motivate young people and allow
undiscovered musical talent to shine and be
recognized." But this social network has an
important distinction--valuable prizes.
Users can upload their bands' music
videos to be voted upon by other members. For
winners, among the aforementioned valuable prizes
are LG HD-TVs, MP3 players, mobile phones, and "the
chance to land a rock star opportunity through a
video-based performance competition." I'm not quite
sure what a "rock star opportunity" entails, but I
think it may have something to do with a Bengal
tiger and a big bowl full of white M&Ms.
The top four contestants will
perform live in New York in August, with a chance to
win $15,000. That's a lot of M&Ms.
